That's right, the 3rd generation Toyota 4Runner, preferably in Forest Green or whatever they call this color. This automatic 1997 4x4 SR5 is mine... My name is Dumpring and I am a basic COBro. After 1 full winter in the GTO, 2 sketchy trips over Vail pass, an expensive fender bender and 2 wrecked floormats (yes I tried that trick), the 4wd content is way overdue.
I purchased it yesterday from the original owner, a Naval type gentleman? averaged about 7000 miles/year... not bad. New BFG tires, 2 100k timing belt services (all documented on Toyota's service center database) and ZERO RUST.
Gretchen (the GTO) is tucked away, hibernating in the garage behind the 4.
It desperately needs shocks/struts and a brake bleed/pad check. I'm thinking about the 2.5 inch Old Man Emu lift kit if I can find it for less than $800 but I'm still getting familiarized with the yotatechs and 4runner forums of the intertubes. I know there are a few overlanders with Toyotas on here, maybe I can get pointed in the right direction?
After the lift, plans are to outfit the interior with a car-camping set up, maybe some 33" tires. I'm excited! Just needs an OPPO sticker - guess I'll order those meow.
THANKS!

The 1984 Honda Spree Ohio Edition is a CLASSIC. I still have the original owners manual.

Great choice! love that color. Head over to overland.kinja.com if you want to head down that [not] road. Also, as you probably already know, slee is going to be your go to guy for the good stuff. I'm happy to be a resource if you need Toyota truck info.

Fantastic! Yeah I been lurking on overland for a bit now - I'm the crazy guy who suggested making a Sequoia into a SAS overland rig haha, glad I went with the 4runner instead. Is there anyone who sells that OME kit for less or is slee the best deal out there?

how close are you to golden? These guys usually cut you a deal if you are local.

In the 90's Toyota would gold badge everything, even the corolla had some gold badging.

definitely do, these types of guys are usually pretty friendly and I've have good interactions with Christo and his staff. Let me know if the Slee limo is still around, I've been wondering what happened to it.

Once the suspension and brakes are sorted. Yes absolutely. Do you like to bike? I'm already planning my trip to Fruita and then Moab this summer.

I've been toying with the idea of an oppo moab meetup, but it never seems to materialize. I like to go once in the spring and once in the fall. Maybe there is a meetup potential. counting us three and VicariousILive, we've got 4 right there.

I do like to bike, but I've really busy lately and haven't gone out much. I don't have a mountain bike.. yet, just road and CX.

Congrats! Looks clean. Another CO person, although I'm 4wd free at the moment. I guess the wife's GC counts, but I think I'd get shot if I tried to take that wheeling. Some day, I'll get another 4wd vehicle, most likely when I bore of the Miata, or get a larger garage.

all those Foresters running around Colorado always makes me wonder if all the lesbians live in Colorado.

Yeah I don't technically need 4x4 but I like to get up the mountains as much as possible and hate driving my friends highland hybrid.
